I
wanted to show some examples here of the types of skirts that
work best for pear or hourglass shaped bodies. I really like
the first skirt (from Anthropologie)
and think it is quite flattering becuase of the vertical stripes.
Even though it is tiered, the vertical stripes counteract
the two horizontal ones. The second skirt, on the other hand,
while cute, is not quite as flattering because of the horizontal
tiering. It adds bulk around my hips and makes me look wider
than I actually am. Finally, the third skirt is by far the
most flattering, because of the subtle vertical lines, the
v-detailing on the front, and the fitted-ness around my hips.

I would never have thought to wear black and brown together, but I gave it a try and I think it looks great! The skirt is Free People, the top is Diane von Furstenberg, the shoes, Marc Jacobs, and the Bag the Lizzie, by Not Rational.

First,
let me just say that I am in love with these shoes. They're
definitely not for everyone, but I think they are amazing
with this skirt and I'm used to wearing tall shoes. I also
like to wear at least one thing that really 'pops' with every
outfit, and these will do it - by
Miu Miu. The yellow t-shirt is Splendid and I find the
color to be very flattering and goes great with brown. The
sweater is at Anthropologie.
It's not actually supposed to tie, but I think it is cute
that way. The necklace is by Yochi
at Ravinstyle. |

I love everything I'm reviewing, but my favorites are definitely the Miu Miu Shoes and this shrug by S.A.Y. It is so unique - you will never see anything like it (especially not here in Atlanta..believe me!). I love the look of it from the front, and how it helps to accentuate my waist. And then the back...as you know, I'm a sucker for hearts and stars...Now you can have it for less!! Use code 'grechenscloset' for 20% off your order at Label Los Angeles. The shirt is James Perse, and the ballet flats are from Target - a whopping $10. They're very cute and somewhat comfortable, although the soles are pretty thin and there is no arch support. |

I loved this shirt a lot more on the model than on me, but it's still pretty cute - by Mona & Holly. the sleeves are what take away from the top's being perfect - for my 'big' arms, I prefer a wider wrist opening. The skirt is by Yank and I bought it at Nordstrom - there are so many similar styles out there right now, but this one was a little longer so I got it. The shoes are Dr. Scholl's - the Chloe lookalikes. they are pretty comfortable, but the strap in the back slips a lot. I would prefer if these were a wedge, but the heel is okay, I'm used to walking on high heels, but they are usually platforms! (These shoes keep disappearing online - I bought mine from Nordstrom, but had seen them previously at Shoes.com. Now, they are on zappos, but may disappear again!) |

As much as I am frustrated by Juicy most of the time becaus of their true lack of originality, I can't help but REALLY love this tunic. It is unique because of the crochet at the bottom, and the delicate lining at the sleeve opening. I love the crisp white. I bought an XL becuase I wanted it to be a bit big, although I usually take a L in hoodies. The jeans are from Anthropologie, the shoes, Dr. Scholl's again and the bag, Not Rational. Where
to buy Juicy online> |
